NEWS UPDATE – 11th January 2005.


Dear All,

Just a short note to keep everyone updated with the latest from the Friends Of
Unawatuna.

· Firm donations have increased to around  £14,000, with more pledged. 
Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far!

· There are now just short of 100 of us on the mailing list who have
pledged support and/or donations to assist us in helping the Unawatuna
community, many of us having been in Unawatuna during the Tsunami and its
immediate aftermath. Many thanks to everyone who has so far pledged support!

· Jake Zarins is planning to be back in Unawatuna next week with a
number of aims; to meet up with local friends and contacts to assess the
current situation, immediate needs, and how we can help in the medium to long
term. To meet with other local aid organisations to ensure we are working in
harmony with each other, and not least to provide material for a UK
documentary film which we hope will increase the aid available for the area.
More news on Jakes visit will follow….

· The web site is being developed “off line”, however the current web
page has been updated with a few specific pictures of Unawatuna, and most
importantly details of how to donate to the fund.  Please let all your friends
and relations know the address – www.friendsofunawatuna.org.uk.

· There are a number of people registered with us for whom we have no
email addresses – if you have contact details for them could you ask them to
email us at support@friendsofunawatuna.org.uk to get them on our mailing list?
