Roomasala Temple

The Roomasala temple, which is up the mountain, have had moonstones inset into the entrance, funded by us.  They are outside a small room which contains painted murals of Buddha's life.  In the room is an inscription, "In memory of all who died on December 26th.  Friends of Unawatuna".

Laura Dunham writes "They are beautiful... ...Many people have come up to me in town who have seen the inscription to compliment us.  The monk who lives there is one of the gentlest people I have met here.  He is always composed yet upbeat and always ready to give a blessing and a protection bracelet.  He has adopted a small chipmunk that fell out of a nest.  The chipmunk is the cutest, most hyperactive little guy.  Yet, when the monk holds him he becomes docile and chirps and 'talks' to the monk.  Amazing to watch.  The monk is extremely thankful to us for our generosity and has said so many times.  "
In memory of all the Sri Lankans and visitors who lost their lives on 26th December 2004.
