Tree Planting

We have started the tree planting. Sam and Laura made some of the safety covers and started planting on 18th August down by Kingfisher and made it to Thaproban in a day.
Laura writes "All the restaurant owners were thrilled and even the surf boys said to me, "What a great idea!" It was a poya day so the beach was packed. We were lugging compost and safety covers up and down the beach while the rest of the population was getting drunk and getting tan. All the owners helped us to plant in front of their restaurants and promised to take care of the trees. Many bought us cold drinks. "
We planted Mudilla trees which are hardy, resistant to salt water, grow quickly, and provide good shade. The safety covers are made of cinnamon sticks which is a hard wood and more natural looking than wooden planks (and cheaper).
