Jake Zarins
Jake (27) was enjoying an extended period of laziness
in Unawatuna and was staying at the Rock house before
and during the Tsunami.
He studied ecology at Sussex university and has amongst
other things been a parrot trainer, an aquarium
builder/consultant and has also done environmental
work in various parts of east and southern Africa.
Jamie (36) and Claire (39) Wilkinson were staying at the Rock House, Unawatuna when the Tsunami hit. We remained at the Rock House until December 29th helping out where we could with water scavenging, gathering names, body identification, and some burials.
Jamie is a Senior Project Manager at Computacenter providing IT project management services to a variety of industries. Claire is an Associate IT Director at JDA Software running the internal IT functions across Europe and Africa.
Jon (40), Tanya (41), Jonah (9) and Nat (7) were staying at the Strand hotel, Unawatuna, when the Tsunami hit. We sheltered at the Rock House in the ‘kids room’ with Mo and Don, and helped out as best we could, until leaving on the 28th with other families and injured.
Jon is a photojournalist, working mainly with the public sector, and runs his own company, Third Avenue, an online picture library.
Tanya is a registered Family Therapist, working over the last 10 years with individuals, families and groups in the NHS, Social Services and the private sector. She also has 10 years experience of mental health nursing.
Tarquin & Tine Desoutter.

Tarquin (44), Tine (39), Max (8) and Freya (5) Desoutter were at Thambapani Retreat, Unawatuna at the time of the Tsunami.
Tarquin Desoutter read Politics and Economics at York University. After four years at Arthur Andersen & Co he founded a medical company, Dencare plc which was sold to a public company in 2002. In 2003 he set up Lifescan Ltd which operates a number of health screening clinics across the UK and are involved in the early diagnosis of heart disease and cancer. He is also Chairman of DBS, a specialist tax and accountancy firm.
Tine Desoutter is Danish but has lived in England since she was 11. Before concentrating on raising her family Tine was Marketing Director of The Tole Candle Company. Prior to this she was involved in running a number of businesses for a leading UK entrepreneur. Over the last 6 years, she has been heavily involved in a number of local charity and environmental campaigns. She is also involved in Lifescan Ltd.

Nick Keegan

Nick (29) was staying at the Rock House on Boxing Day when the Tsunami hit Unawatuna and helped with the recovery effort in the immediate aftermath of the disaster. Nick works as a PR consultant in London and holds a degree in Politics and History.
